The Government has given special importance to the sector for the creation of digital Bangladesh for implementing the vision of the present Honorable Prime Minister of the People's Republic of Bangladesh, ensuring technical assistance in the comprehensive application and use of information and communication technology at district, upazila and union level; Accessing the benefits of information and communication technology to the grassroots level, provision of infrastructure security; Maintenance; Implementation; On 6 July, the 'Directorate of Information and Communication Technology' was formed to ensure the delivery of e-services in remote areas of the country through the expansion of quality control and the efficiency of computer professionals.

Effective Purpose:

1) To create high speed electronics connection to the lowest level of the country.

2) To create appropriate infrastructure for providing information and communication technology related services across the country.

3) Coordination of information and communication technology related activities at the public and private levels.

4) Effective maintenance of the objective of providing continuous service from the information and communication technology infrastructure.

5) To create ICT service for the creation of skilled information and communication technology professionals at the government level.

6) Increased capacity of trained manpower for rapidly changing technologies.

7) To expand the knowledge of information and communication technology at all levels of government and the people.

8) Preparation of laws, policies, guidelines and standardization related to information and communication technology.

9) Creation and maintenance of inter-operability in the field of ICT services and product use.

10) To provide total support to research, innovation and application of new technologies.

Functions:

1) To ensure and coordinate the use and application of ICT at all levels of government.

2) Provide support, maintenance and support to create appropriate ICT infrastructure in all the departments up to the ground level.

3) Appointment, promotion, promotion and replacement of skilled manpower at all levels of government offices.

4) Transfer of technical and specialized knowledge of information technology at all levels.

5) Formulation and implementation of policies to promote equality of government institutions and manpower.

6) Formulation and implementation of policies to promote equality of information technology related manpower

7) Take initiatives to serve the people in an electronic manner up to the grassroots level and hence collect information, distribute and conduct research activities.

8) Ensure demand, quality and interoperability of machinery etc.

9) To provide research, development and support in the modernization of modern technology at all levels.

10) To give proper dignity and to preserve the interests of the officers / employees of the department through proper evaluation of their talents, experience, qualifications.
